Remember “The Tingler”? The spidery head massager that sent shivers down your spine? Well, this playful toy took Wendy Robbins, our Coach of the Month and her partner Jorli McLain, from deep debt to millions.

As Wendy says, “If I can make millions from a bent coat hanger, then anyone can.” However, striking it rich also took a lot of determination and chutzpah which Wendy has in buckets. To find out more about Wendy, check out the Coach of the Month profile.

A skilled networker, Wendy knows how connecting with businesses and other entrepreneurs can literally earn you a fortune. She also knows how to have fun at whatever she does and that is why we invited her to host a free Teleseminar on February 20.

Dear Coach – I have a small interior decorating and design business. I have a very limited budget at the moment and would like to know the wisest place to spend my marketing dollars. - Ms. Ad-budget Stumped!

Ms. A.B.STUMPED…not!

When you feel stumped…STOP! The mind that is stumped is not the same mind that is able to find solutions. Ask your heart for wisdom. Stay aligned with your passion, your vision, your dream and be totally unreasonable! Design with creativity. Think beyond advertising and marketing… Think PR; think local. That’s where you’ll get the most bang for your promotional dollar.

What can you do to create PR and have a local story done on you? Online press releases also can work well. Have you thought of creating a joint venture with someone who has a bigger marketing budget? How about doing work for trade where word-of-mouth is going to pay off? There is only a small cost to this, mostly in time.

Ask: What kind of business does business with designers? Real Estate folks? Furniture stores? Let your fingers do the walking and look in the Yellow Pages for fresh (and local) ideas.

You can create a business card that is like a mini press release for you.

Develop your elevator speech and let people know what makes you unique.

If you are a good writer, do a blog - if not hire one on www.elance.com. Use the blog to connect with larger design companies who might shunt their overflow to you. Blogs can also troll for partnerships – in business or just per project.

Remember: You are the creator of your tree of life not a stump..;0)

Dear Coach,
Recently, a business venture fell through (a blessing in disguise) leaving me with time and what feels like too many choices. I've known for over 30 years that I would write an international bestseller, I figured this may be the time. I even committed to writing it during Life Directions last year.

The problem is, after all this time, I am having difficulty feeling that the book will be of value. I am stuck. I can move on to other opportunities, but I don't want to look back 10 years from now, knowing that I had this opportunity to create a bestseller and didn't take it. How do I get unstuck?

Thanks,
Stuck deep in the NC mountains

Dear Stuck NOT —Next time you feel stuck, say to yourself, "I know I can't, but if I could, I would...". This may open your mind to new possibilities.

Imagine yourself aged and wise – and ask your (experienced self) for wisdom. You might also ask that person about regrets, knowing full well they’ll tell you that you are here to live full and die empty; you are here to create a legacy. This “future you” will guide you if you choose to listen.

“Time travel” – when the soul wishes to create, it can step through a canvas, create a new reality from there, and then step back to live that new reality. Does this make sense? See it expansively—feel it, believe it and you will receive it.

Here’s a tangible way to envision: Cut out this week’s bestseller list in the NY Times and replace the #1 author with your name. Put this where you can see it.

Create the mindset you will need to succeed and don’t forget to have a blast with it! Isn’t that what we are here to do? Have fun, celebrate and appreciate! Take time to celebrate your growth. Having been stuck is just one step on the way to getting unstuck!

Dear Coach,
I am in sales. I wish to retire but never can at this point. I am sick of cold calling. I have no one to fall back on financially. I am looking for a new business that I can start part-time that will give me passive income as my current business does not.

I am thinking of an MLM. How do I build up the clients so I can earn a passive income? - Ms. Tired of Working Hard

Dear Working Hard – no more!
If you don’t want to work hard – don’t. “Wishing” puts the responsibility outside of yourself. Wishing and hoping? What you need to do is intend, commit, demand, and command – see the difference?

“Sick of cold calling.” What message are you are sending the universe? I’m concerned that you might find yourself getting colds, flus, fatigued, or depressed? It may be time to pay attention to your words, your thoughts, emotions, and beliefs because, in the end, you are responsible for all of the above.

“No one to fall back on…” Does that sound like a victim statement? Why do you want to “fall” and why “back”? Is there really no support in your life? It’s time to change your story. Give support to yourself and to others. Join a Mastermind group for instance… You have more to offer than you may think!

Remember that like attracts like. Be, Do and Have what you desire. It’s not really cold calling unless you think of it as cold – maybe it’s you who is cold… ;0) so warm up! Network with others and pay them to refer you. Offer a discount and a finder’s fee or commission to the person who is introducing you to new business.

Here are some Tried & True Networking Tips:

  •  Find people with client lists and ask them to write an endorsed letter as they have rapport with their clientele and will be trusted.
  • Their clients will pay attention when they say you are awesome to work with, have a great attitude, are fun, organized, keep your word and love what you do.
  • Go from “cold” to “hot” and from “Working hard…” to “Playing full out!

It won’t be long before you are getting paid to fulfill your passion!

Love,
Wendy
